Nice to meet you!

I’m Rachel Button, and I’m a freelance copywriter. Basically, this means businesses hire me to write copy for one-off projects, including landing pages, blog posts, email sequences, and text-based ads.

My meandering journey into this industry began in 2017, while traveling through South America with a friend. We wanted to stay on the road for longer, I was running out of cash, and so I decided to try my hand at freelance writing.

(This is me, currently in Spain.)

My first big gig was with a non-profit company in Micronesia – they hired me to write elementary math textbooks for students who speak English as a second language. I was so excited to finally test my chops on a longterm project. I put everything I had into that work…and the client & I were super happy with the final result.

However, I wasn’t sure if I wanted to continue writing educational materials. The process was extremely technical, and there were so many moving parts in the production of just one lesson plan – let alone an entire book.

So, I continued testing out different writing styles. I applied to odd jobs on freelancing boards. I wrote for pretty much anyone and everyone I could, until the day I was hired to write a landing page for an industrial compliance firm.

I had never heard of a landing page before…but once I got started, I felt like I had found my perfect fit in the world of freelance writing.

I liked what I was doing. I was good at what I was doing. And I knew I wanted to be a copywriter.

So here I am, three years later, speaking to you through the void and onto whatever device you’re using at the moment. I’m still living on the road, and I’m still writing…but now, I write for the purposes of persuading people to buy.
